Guidelines For Contestants

Welcome to the Contestant Guidelines page! Here, you’ll find all the essential information you need to participate in the Bachata Stars competition. Please read through the guidelines carefully to ensure you are fully prepared and understand the expectations. These guidelines will help you navigate the competition process. 

Bachata Stars 2024

Step 1: Record Your Social Dance Video

  • Purpose: Submit a short video that showcases your current Bachata skills.
  • Requirements: The video should be 1-2 minutes, focusing on your dance style, musicality, and connection with a partner if possible. This helps the judges place you in the correct competition level.
  • Tips: Choose a song with clear rhythm, and focus on demonstrating your best moves in a natural, social dance style.

Step 2: Complete Your Registration Form

  • Details: Visit our Registration Page to fill out the necessary information, including your name, contact details, dance experience, and any special requirements.

  • Submit Your Video: You will need to submit your dance video as part of your registration. You have two options for submitting your video:

    1. Option 1: Submit Video Link During Registration:
      • Upload your video to Google Drive and set the sharing permissions to “Anyone with the link can view”.
      • Paste the Google Drive link into the registration form where requested.
    2. Option 2: Submit Video via Contestants Dashboard After Registration:
      • After completing your registration, you will receive access to your Contestants Dashboard.
      • Log in to your dashboard and submit the Google Drive link to your video there by following the instructions in your dashboard.
  • Important: Please ensure that your video is accessible to the judges by setting the correct sharing permissions for your Google Drive link.

Step 3: Confirm Registration with Payment

After submitting the registration form, you will receive an email containing a payment link. Use this link to proceed with the Payment Process for your participation in the competition. Payment must be completed within the specified timeframe to secure your spot in the event.

Step 4: Save Your Confirmation & QR Code

Upon successful payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a QR code. This QR code is essential and must be saved for the day of the contest.

Step 5: Await Judges' Categorization Announcement

  • Placement Review: Our judges will review your submitted video and assign you to the appropriate category based on your skill level (Rising Stars or Bachata Stars).
  • Notification: You will be notified by email within a week regarding your assigned level.

Step 6: Access Your Contestant Dashboard

Access Time: Please note that you will have access to the Contestant Dashboard 24 hours after your registration.

Step 7: Upload Your Video (If Not Done Already)

  • If you did not submit your video during registration, you can upload it via the Contestants Dashboard.

    • Log in to your Contestants Dashboard.
    • Upload your video by pasting the Google Drive link in the appropriate section of your dashboard.
  • Video Submission Deadline: Be sure to submit your video by the provided deadline. Late submissions may not be accepted.

Step 8: Review Competition Rules and Judging Criteria

  • Competition Rules: Review the official Rules and Code of Conduct available in your dashboard. This will include guidelines on attire, performance expectations, and behavioral standards.
  • Judging Criteria: Take time to familiarize yourself with the Judging Criteria, which include technical skill, musicality, connection, and creativity. Understanding these criteria will help you focus your preparation and improve your performance.

Step 9: Prepare for the Competition

  • Practice: Use the judging criteria to guide your practice sessions and improve your technique. Pay attention to timing, footwork, and the quality of your connection with your partner.
  • Get Organized: Prepare everything you need for the competition—costume, shoes, water, and any personal items. Make sure to rest well before the event.
  • Health & Well-being: Stretch, hydrate, and get enough sleep leading up to the competition to ensure you’re physically ready.

Step 10: Arrive on Time and Check In

  • Arrival: Aim to arrive between 21:00 – 21:30 to ensure enough time for check-in and warm-up.
  • Check-In Process: Head to the registration desk to confirm your arrival and receive any event materials (e.g., name tags, schedules).
  • Have Your QR Code and ID Ready: When checking in, please have your QR code (received in your confirmation email) and a valid ID ready to present.

Step 11: Enjoy the Competition

  • Stay Relaxed: Focus on enjoying the experience.
  • Support Others: Cheer for fellow contestants and share in the camaraderie of the event. It’s all about the joy of dancing together!
